Tucked out of the way of the main town centre, The FaceBar is a small venue built as a nightclub. Unfortunately, when hosting a metal gig, a large disco ball centre stage doesn’t fit. The Stage was rather small and through the nigh you could see the bands could barely fit. With the lead singer of Honour Is Dead spending most of his time pacing in front of the stage while the band filled the stage. The overall sound of the evening wasn’t bad, the speakers seemed to be struggling by the end, and the overall balance was slight off. But for a venue that’s designed as a club, I think they did well. The staff members were friendly, which added a warm inviting atmosphere to the venue as you arrived.
The support bands did an excellent job of warming up the crowds for the main act, with Terakai playing some of their latest tracks from the New EP. After a small amount of movement in the crowd for the support act, the headliners came on. Sylosis livened up the crowd with track from their latest album ‘Conclusion Of An Age’. Opening with the popular ‘After Lifeless Years’, the crowds began to liven up and after an excellent hour-long set, they finished with Teras.
The main advantage of seeing a band at a local venue like The FaceBar, is being able to get close to the band, bigger venues impose more restrictions to keep the crowed away from the stage, but at The FaceBar, you had the chance to chat with the bands after their sets, and meet each of the members of the headliner band, Sylosis.
Overall the evening was an excellent night of Metal Music and Moshing
